2019 SOCMA Policy Summit

Who should attend the Policy Summit?

SOCMA's Policy Summit is the premier specialty chemical industry advocacy event, providing opportunities not only to advance the industry's profile and policy priorities, but also high-quality networking and education. SOCMA encourages participation from a broad cross-section of companies. This includes those in executive management, operations, product stewardship, regulatory compliance, and trade association representatives.

How will meetings on Capitol Hill be arranged and scheduled?

The company address(es) you provide on your registration form will be used to match you with the appropriate U.S. representatives and senators. You will be grouped with other Policy Summit attendees according to district, state and region (if applicable).

SOCMA will then arrange meetings with the representatives and senators assigned to your company's location(s) and any relevant members of Congress who fall under the committees most pertinent to chemical industry legislative issues. Special arrangements can also be made for attendees with varied departure times or interest in meeting with specific congressional committees and lawmakers.

What will the weather be like? What attire should I pack?

Average temperatures in mid-September reach up to 78 F and fall as low as 59 F. The average precipitation total for the month is 3.82 inches.

Business casual attire is acceptable during the regulatory program, reception and dinner on September 17. Business attire (jacket and tie for men and the equivalent for women) is appropriate for Capitol Hill meetings on September 18.

Where will the education sessions be held? Do you have a room block?

All sessions will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard unless otherwise noted on the agenda. For ease of travel, SOCMA has contracted a room block with the event hotel.
