    Committees

    Chemical Regulations Committee

    The Chemical Regulations Committee is the guiding force for SOCMA’s activities to support the specialty chemical industry on chemical regulations. It is made up of representatives of SOCMA in Regulatory Affairs and Product Manager/Director roles, or anyone who’s job role aligns with the policy issues of the committee. The four core focus areas of the committee are:

    • EPA’s new and existing chemicals programs
    • Chemical restrictions and bans
    • Product labeling
    • Hazardous communications

    Environmental Committee

    The Environmental Committee is the guiding force for SOCMA’s activities to support the specialty chemical industry on environmental policy. It is made up of representatives of SOCMA in EHS, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Technical, Safety Manager/Director roles, or anyone who’s job role aligns with the policy issues of the committee. The four core focus areas of the group are:

    • Environmental Justice
    • Air regulations
    • Water regulations
    • Waste regulations

    Health and Safety Committee

    The Health and Safety Committee is the guiding force for SOCMA’s activities to support the specialty chemical industry on worker health and safety policy. It is made up of EHS, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Technical, or Safety Manager/Director, or anyone who’s job role aligns with the policy issues of the committee. The two core focus areas of the committee are:

    • Worker health and safety
    • Facility site security

    Trade, Tax, and Supply Chain Committee

    The Trade, Tax and Supply Chain Committee is the guiding force for SOCMA’s activities to support the specialty chemical industry on international trade policy, domestic tax policy and supply chain policy. It is made up of representatives of SOCMA in Supply Chain, Sourcing, Procurement, Material, Trade Compliance, or Logistics Manager/Director roles, or anyone who’s job role aligns with the policy issues of the committee. The three core focus areas of the committee are:

    • Tariffs, duties, and free trade agreements
    • R&D tax credit, Superfund tax, and any other tax barriers to industry growth
    • Ocean, rail, and trucking issues
