Leadership Transition Update from SOCMA Board Chair

August 07, 2025

After nearly nine years of dedicated leadership, SOCMA President & CEO Jennifer Abril stepped down yesterday. As a passionate advocate for our industry, her impact will be felt for years to come. While she’ll be taking on a new role as President & CEO of the American Cleaning Institute, we’re pleased she’ll remain within the broader industry in a different capacity.

We’re entering this next chapter with a clear vision and solid groundwork in place. The SOCMA Board has engaged a national search firm to begin the search process for our next President & CEO. We will provide updates on our progress and timeline as the search advances.

During this transition period, Vera Stoeva, MBA, CAE will serve as interim President & CEO, ensuring a smooth transition and steady leadership across our programs and priorities. She has served as our Chief Operating Officer for the past 6 years, working closely with Jennifer in a critical leadership capacity.

As SOCMA Board Chair, I’m energized by the path ahead. We are building on a strong foundation, and we remain fully committed to advancing the interests of the specialty chemical industry through bold advocacy, strategic initiatives, and meaningful member engagement.

Thank you for being part of this community, we look forward to sharing more soon.

Sincerely,

Mara Gliozzi
Chair, SOCMA Board of Governors
