SOCMA President & CEO Jennifer Abril to Depart After Nearly a Decade of Transformational Leadership

ARLINGTON, VA — The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) announced today that President & CEO Jennifer Abril will step down in August 2025 after nearly nine years at the helm of the organization. Abril will assume a new role as President & CEO of the American Cleaning Institute.

Since rejoining SOCMA in 2016, Abril has led the organization through a period of strategic transformation, increased industry engagement, and strengthened advocacy. Under her leadership, SOCMA launched its Vision 2030 strategic framework, revitalized its presence in Washington, and expanded programs and services that empower specialty chemical manufacturers to thrive in a dynamic global marketplace.

“Jennifer’s leadership has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Mara GliozziChair of the SOCMA Board of Governors, “She brought clarity, vision, and a deep commitment to the success of our industry. Thanks to her work, SOCMA is stronger, more connected, and better positioned to serve our members today and into the future. We are deeply grateful for her service and wish her the very best in this next chapter.”

During her tenure, Abril led the successful relaunch and growth of the SOCMA Show, built a member-driven advocacy platform that reestablished SOCMA as a voice of authority in the nation’s capital, and expanded programs across EH&S, trade, and commercial excellence. The organization’s member base and industry influence have grown substantially under her direction.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this remarkable industry and lead an organization I care deeply about,” said Abril. “Alongside the SOCMA Board of Governors, we’ve built a vibrant community committed to innovation, safety, and commercial growth. I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished and confident that SOCMA’s momentum will continue under new leadership.”

The SOCMA Board of Governors is actively engaged in a transition process and will share details on interim leadership and the search for a successor in the coming weeks.
