Pilot Chemical Secures 1-Minute Contact Time Claim for Maquat® 86-M Product

Cincinnati, OHPilot Chemical Corp., through its subsidiary Mason Chemical Company, has secured acceptance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to add a 1-minute contact time claim for SARS-CoV-2 on the label of its Maquat® 86-M product.

Customers using Maquat® 86-M for hard surface disinfection can now claim the product is proven effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, with a 1-minute contact time. A 10-minute claim against Bordetella bronchiseptica has also been added to the label. This is one of the causes of kennel cough and can affect small pets. Customers will need to update their labels in order to make these claims. Customers with questions about any proposed label changes and updates should contact Pilot’s Sub-Registration group at subreg@pilotchemical.com.

“As we enter cold and flu season, set against the surge of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and the opening up of the economy, it’s more important than ever to stay vigilant with cleaning, sanitizing and disinfection efforts,” said Richard Rehg, Vice President of Commercial, Pilot Chemical. “Following label instructions is a critical part of the process and a 1-minute contact time can provide peace of mind when it comes to protecting our families and communities against COVID-19.”

Maquat® 86-M is part of the company’s EPA-registered quaternary compounds and active ingredient disinfectant product line and is well suited for use in healthcare facilities and in a variety of other institutions and businesses. It is available for supplemental registration.
