SOCMA Statement on Project Vault

February 13, 2026

SOCMA welcomes the Administration’s focus on strengthening U.S. supply-chain resilience through initiatives like Project Vault and ensuring American manufacturers have reliable access to materials critical to national security, energy systems, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. These efforts align with SOCMA’s long-standing priority of rebuilding domestic manufacturing capacity for the chemicals and materials that underpin U.S. industry and defense.

Specialty chemical manufacturing is the essential link between raw materials and finished goods—and expanding that capacity requires long-term investment certainty, predictable regulatory processes, and policies that support reshoring and scaling production in the United States.

SOCMA’s member companies—many of them small and mid-sized manufacturers—have demonstrated readiness to invest in new and expanded facilities, workforce development, and advanced processes to meet national needs. But these investments depend on timely permitting, science-based regulatory decisions, and coordination across federal agencies to ensure that manufacturing timelines align with national security and supply-chain objectives.

SOCMA looks forward to continued engagement with policymakers to ensure that efforts to secure critical materials also strengthen the U.S. specialty chemical manufacturing base—protecting jobs, supporting innovation, and reinforcing America’s industrial competitiveness for the long term.
