OCTC Partners with SOCMA to Provide Industry Training Tools
Modernized ChemOps Training Features Components to Increase Retention
Columbus, OH –The Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC) proudly announces its partnership with the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) to promote chemical operator training and underpin a safety culture that is at the core of the industry.
The strategic alliance between OCTC and SOCMA facilitates expanded implementation of SOCMA’s ChemOps Training tool for chemical manufacturing facilities in Ohio, benefiting OCTC members as well as the North American chemical industry as a whole.
Launched in 2019 with modernized features, ChemOps Training is designed for chemical plant workers to achieve optimal understanding of equipment and processes, assist companies in the recruitment and retention of operators, and reinforce industry worker safety objectives. ChemOps Training modules cover basic science concepts, risk management practices, plant equipment, and much more. Units are accompanied by 3D animations and interactive exercises to enhance learning retention.
“As longtime industry allies, we’re excited to work together with SOCMA to promote ChemOps Training,” said Jennifer Klein, President, OCTC. “Every year, Ohio’s chemistry companies invest $1.1 billion to build and update equipment and facilities. Ohio is the third largest chemical manufacturing state in the country, and it is imperative that our members have the right training in place to bolster the pipeline of skilled workers needed to maintain safe and productive operations throughout the state.”
“SOCMA is pleased to work with OCTC to pilot expansion of the ChemOps Training program throughout Ohio and nationwide,” said Paul Hirsh, SOCMA’s SVP of Industry Relations. “ChemOps Training enables companies to maintain strong safety cultures and is the solution for efficient training as capabilities and processes evolve and customer demand increases.”
The OCTC exists to represent the chemistry industry in the public policy arena in Ohio; to advance understanding of the contributions of chemistry to our modern lifestyle; and to promote the highest standards of environmental, health, safety and security performance. www.ohiochemistry.org
Solely dedicated to the specialty and fine chemical industry, SOCMA focuses on building commercial connections, supporting manufacturing and operations, and advocating for regulatory and legislative policies. www.socma.org
